šŸŽƒ Pumpkin French Toast Sticks

An Easy Fall Breakfast for Campers

Cool mornings, warm campfires, and the smell of pumpkin spice—fall camping is the perfect excuse to make a cozy breakfast outdoors. These Pumpkin French Toast Sticks are easy to prepare, fun to eat, and packed with classic fall flavor.

They’re especially great for camping because you can prep the egg mixture ahead of time and cook everything in a skillet right at your campsite.

šŸ‚ Ingredients

  • 8 slices of thick-cut bread
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Butter or cooking spray
  • Powdered sugar, for topping
  • Maple syrup, for dipping

šŸ”„ Directions

1. Cut the bread.
Slice each piece of bread into 3–4 sticks. Slightly stale or day-old bread works especially well because it soaks up the pumpkin mixture without becoming too soggy.

2. Make the pumpkin mixture.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin puree, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, and cinnamon.

3. Heat your skillet.
Place a skillet over your camp stove or campfire cooking grate and add a little butter.

4. Dip and cook.
Quickly dip each bread stick into the pumpkin mixture, making sure it is coated on all sides. Place the sticks in the hot skillet and cook for about 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.

5. Add your toppings.
Serve your French toast sticks warm with a dusting of powdered sugar and plenty of maple syrup for dipping.

šŸ•ļø Make It Camping-Friendly

For an even easier campsite breakfast, mix the pumpkin custard at home and store it in a sealed container in your cooler. Pack your bread separately and you’ll be ready to cook as soon as breakfast time rolls around.

You can also add your favorite toppings, like chopped pecans, whipped cream, caramel drizzle, or a sprinkle of extra cinnamon.

šŸ The Perfect Fall Camping Breakfast

There’s something special about starting a crisp fall camping morning with a warm breakfast. Add a cup of fresh coffee, gather around the picnic table, and enjoy a simple meal before heading out for a day of fall adventures.

Good food, cool mornings, and a campsite full of autumn colors—that’s what fall camping at Knoxville Campground is all about!
